It’s a question I hear quite often.
And while both practices may be used to support relaxation, awareness & a sense of wellbeing, sound healing & energy healing aren’t quite the same thing.
Sound Healing Begins With Something You Can Hear — and Feel
Think about standing near a large speaker & feeling the bass in your chest.
Sound is vibration.
During a sound healing session, instruments such as singing bowls create sound waves that travel through the air and reach our auditory and sensory systems.
The sounds, rhythms and vibrations can shape our attention and the way we experience our body in that moment. For many people, this creates a deeply calming, immersive experience.
And that’s what makes sound healing so interesting — you don’t simply listen to it. You experience it.
So, What Makes Energy Healing Different?
Energy healing comes from a different tradition and framework.
Practices such as Reiki & other energy-based modalities work with the concept of subtle energy or an energetic field around & within the body.
Unlike sound waves, which can be physically measured, the proposed mechanisms behind these subtle-energy practices have not been scientifically established in the same way.
That doesn’t mean the two practices need to compete.
They simply approach wellbeing differently.
Can Sound Healing and Energy Healing Be Used Together?
Yes & this is where it becomes interesting.
A practitioner may choose to combine sound with an energy-based practice, creating an experience that works across different traditions & sensory pathways.
Different methods. Different experiences. A similar intention.
To create a space where, for a little while, the outside noise becomes quieter & you have the chance to reconnect with yourself.
Sometimes, the best way to understand the difference isn’t to read about it.
It’s to experience it.
